Sanctum of Domination Raid Boss Tactics/Guide: Kelthuzad


Overview - Fast Tactics


Phase 1

  • Tank swap when boss does knockback and shards comes out.
  • Dps the shards down asap, bring the boss to each shard for cleave dmg.
  • When a shard is destroyed, tank run over the circle under it.
  • When big circle around you, run to a shard so it interrupts it. If no shard stay away from raid.
    Nuke the add that spawns. Fixated player from this add runs away.
  • When double arrow on you, a swirl and then an ice shard will spawn, move away from it.
    Nuke the ice shards down with some time in between so healers can heal up raid since it does raid dmg when destroyed. Leave last one and let it pop by itself.
  • When circle swirls around a player, stack up on that player.
    Healers dispell afterwards because you get rooted.
  • When several white patches spawns and grows, find a safe position to stand on.

Phase 2

  • Divide raid in groups.
    One stays on main platform, one enters the dark swirl in middle (the phylactery).
    Tanks and healers stay with some dps on main platform.
    Dps enters the phylactery.
    Heroic mode – You can only enter phylactery once. Assign what players enters when.

  • The soul inside phylactery doesn’t move, only turns. Nuke it down by 33% health and run out fast.

  • Main platform – Tank the abominations, raid stand spread and dodge frontal line dmg on a random player. Interrupt the caster. Kill all.

Phase 3

  • Fight boss and same adds as in phase 2. Normal mode only abominations. Heroic mode: Both adds.
  • When circle swirls around a player, stack up on that player.
    Healers dispell afterwards because you get rooted.
  • Ice patches will spawn more and more until entire platform is full of it. This does dmg every 1 sec. Bloodlust/Timewarp/Heroism and burn the boss down before the platform is full of ice.

Abilities and Tactics


PHASE 1

Ice Shard (Tanks)

  • Boss shoots an ice shard on tank that does 75% attack dmg as physical dmg.

Tactics: Ice Shard (Tanks)

  • Healers and tank beware.

Soul Fracture (tanks)

  • Boss does very high Shadow dmg and knockback.
  • This splits up the tanks soul to 3 shards shattered out on the platform.
  • The shards do moderate dmg to all players.
  • Each shard leaves a stacking debuff of Soul Exhaustion on the tank that increase dmg taken by 500%.
  • If the stacks are not removed before 1 min has passed, the tank dies.

Tactics: Soul Fracture (tanks)

  • Tank swap at every knock back (every Soul Fracture)
  • Bring the boss to a shard for extra cleave dmg on boss while nuking shards.
  • Interrupt the Shards
  • Dps must destroy the shards.
  • Tank runs though the defeated Soul Shard to remove the stacks.


Oblivion´s Echo

  • Boss puts debuffs on several random players, with a circle around you with an arrow.
  • After some sec a swirl spawns under the player location and then he debuff silence anyone within 10 yards for 6 sec.
  • They also silence Soul Shards (The Soul Fracture shards from tanks).
  • When debuff expires, these players drop a pool on the platform that silence nearby players and will also spawn an add called Frostbound Devouted.
  • This add moves towards a random player and if it reaches the player the add detonates doing very high Shadow dmg within 5 yards of impact.

Tactics: Oblivion´s Echo

  • Run to a soul shard and make sure the circle covers the shard so it silence it.
  • If no shards, run to the top left or top right side with the debuff before it expires.
  • Fixated players from the adds that spawn must kite them (run away from them).
  • Nuke and cc the adds before they reach the fixated player.


Glacial Wrath

  • Boss summons several Glacial spikes at several players locations. A double arrow on head on those players.
  • After some seconds, a swirl spawns under the player and big spikes burst up.
  • Getting hit (within 6 yards) does low dmg and knock back.
  • The Glacial spikes loses health over time (5% every 2 sec).
  • 40 sec until it is removed by itself.
  • When removed, it does moderate frost dmg to all players and leaves a debuff that does low frost dmg every 1 sec for 10 sec.

Tactics: Glacial Wrath

  • Stay spread.
  • Dps must nuke the shards and destroy them with some time in between so that healers can heal up the raid.
  • Leave last one to detonate by itself.


Howling Blizzard

  • When boss has 0% mana
  • He summons loads of swirls on the platform that becomes ice patches.
  • These Ice patches grow larger and larger.
  • If a player stands in the ice patch, they take high Frost dmg every 1 sec.
  • These ice patches grow for 20 sec and then explodes, doing very high frost dmg to players within 8 yards.
  • Standing on an ice patch does high frost dmg.

Tactics: Howling Blizzard

  • Find an area to stand on fast.


Dark Evocation

  • Boss summons the adds (Frostbound Devouted) that fixates random players.
  • These adds walks to players and detonates.
  • This does very high shadow dmg to players within 5 yards and knockback.
  • Boss will also raise any dead players in the raid and mind control these players.

Tactics: Dark Evocation

  • Kite the adds and nuke them down fast.
  • Don’t stand near them since they explode.
  • CC and kill any player that is mind controlled.


Frost Blast

  • Boss targets a random player with a big swirl.
  • After some seconds, boss will shoot a big piece of ice on that player.
  • This does extremely high dmg but divided among players within the swirl (within 8 yards)
  • The hit will also leave a debuff that does low dmg every 1 sec and roots the players for 12 sec.

Tactics: Frost Blast

  • Stack up on the player
  • Other players must stand inside the swirl to soak.
  • Healers MUST dispell.
    Players are rooted for a long time, this can cause problem with other abilities such as Glacial spikes and Oblivion´s echo where you need to dodge spikes or stand spread to not interrupt nearby players.
  • If the target player has immunity, use that instead and no one soaks but call that out.


PHASE 2


  • Phase 2 starts every time you Kill the boss.
  • His Phylactery (another small platform) will open and restores him to life.
  • When this is open, players can enter to attack the boss soul (Remnant of Kel´Thuzad).
  • Players can take down the health of the soul to 66% health and then they have to run out because boss will destroy anyone inside the phylactery.
  • The second time players enter, they can take down the health of the soul to 33% and the last time players enter they can kill it.
  • Players have a certain time to be inside and attack it, then they get tossed out from there when the boss health is back to 100%.
  • If the players don’t take the health of the Remnant soul down by 33% (66% or 33% health or 0% health) then the boss casts Vengeful Destruction This does very high shadow dmg to all players.
  • The normal boss platform will have waves of adds spawning that must be handled as well.
  • HEROIC MODE: Entering the Phylactery gives you a debuff that doesn’t let you enter again.

 

  • Divide the raid in two groups on normal mode.
  • Divide the raid in 3 groups on heroic mode.
  • One group that enters the phylactery and one group that handles the adds on the main platform.
  • The two tanks will stay in the main platform to tank the abomination adds.
  • No tanks are needed in the phylactery.
  • NORMLA MODE: Pick players that do good dmg to the phylactery.
    HEROIC MODE: Spread out the dps in groups.

Inside the phylactery

The Soul stands still in the center and just turns to different sides.

Shadow Fissure

  • The soul spawns several swirls on the platform and then a blast.
  • Getting hit does very high Shadow dmg and a knockback.

Freezing Blast

  • The Soul flash up with big circle mark and then shoots a wave of ice.
  • Getting hit does moderate Shadow dmg and roots for 4 sec.

HEROIC MODE – Glacial Winds

  • At 33% health when entering the phylactery.
  • Boss will spawn tornadoes that shoots out from him.
  • This does low Frost dmg and roots for 4 sec.

Undying Wrath

  • When the Soul looses 33% health, it will do very high dmg and knock back to all players still inside.

Tactics: The Phylactery

  • Don’t stand in front of the flashy white mark boss does.
  • Dodge the Swirls.
  • Dodge the tornadoes.
  • Run out fast via the portal when it lost 33% health before its done casting Undying Wrath.

On the main platform

The adds

Waves off adds will spawn and consists of two types.

  • Unstoppable Abomination
    Does hard melee attacks.
    Does Demolish, that is a wave of energy in a line towards a random player.
    Does very high Shadow dmg to any player hit.

  • Soul Reaver
    Casts Banshee´s cry that is interruptible.
    This is missles on random player that does moderate Shadow dmg and each cast makes the next next do 25% more dmg.

  • HEROIC MODE
    Adds will spawn again after 10 sec if the phylactery is still open.

Tactics: The adds

  • Tank the Abominations.
  • Raid spread out so you can see the Demolish wave lines proper and easier to dodge it.
  • Interrupt the Banshee´s cry that Soul Revers do.


Extra stuff in phase 2

Necrotic Surge

  • Every time boss comes back to life again, he will do 5% more dmg and also increase the number of players targeted by Oblivion´s Echo and Glacial Wrath.

HEROIC MODE – Necrotic Empowerment

  • Every time boss comes back to life, he will empower all adds in the fight by increasing their dmg by 25% and making them immune to all cc.

PHASE 3


  • When the soul inside the phylactery is killed, phase 3 starts.
  • This time, when boss dies, he dies without any ress.
  • Boss will unleash all powers he got on this phase.
  • You will fight boss and adds.

 

Deep Freeze

  • Boss will spawns ice patches on the ground over and over that lasts for the rest of the fight.
  • Standing on one will do high Frost dmg every 1 sec.

Tactics: Deep Freeze

  • A race against time. Bloodlust/Timewarp/Heroism here and burn the boss down before the entire platform is full of ice and nowhere to stand.

Onslaught of the Damned

  • Boss spawns same adds as in phase 2.
  • Normal mode spawns only Abominations.
  • Heroic mode spawns Abominations and Soul Reavers.
  • They have the same abilities as in phase 2.

Tactics: Onslaught of the Damned

  • Of tank will pick up abominations and tank them.
  • Raid stand spread so you can dodge the Demolish it does.
  • Interrupt the Banshee´s Cry on Heroic mode.

Frost Blast

  • Boss targets a random player with a big swirl.

  • The hit will also leave a debuff that does low dmg every 1 sec and roots the players for 12 sec.

  • Other players must stand inside the swirl to soak.
  • Healers MUST dispell.
    Players are rooted for a long time, this can cause problem with other abilities such as Glacial spikes and Oblivion´s echo where you need to dodge spikes or stand spread to not interrupt nearby players.
  • If the target player has immunity, use that instead and no one soaks but call that out.


Ice Shard (Tanks)

  • Boss shoots an ice shard on tank that does 75% attack dmg as physical dmg.

Tactics: Ice Shard (Tanks)

  • Healers and tank beware.

HEROIC MODE: Sinister Miasma

  • Boss does low stacking debuff every 2 sec as long as a player is within the phylactery.
