Dungeon updates in The War Within

Welcome to the latest updates on The War Within beta, featuring exciting changes to dungeons and the affix system. This guide will walk you through the key modifications and additions, providing you with the necessary information to navigate the new features with confidence.Heroic & Mythic Dungeons In The War Within, the dungeon difficulty progression has been revamped to cater to a wider range of player preferences and skill levels. Here's what you need to know:

Normal Difficulty:

  • No changes from previous seasons.
  • Includes all 8 War Within dungeons.

Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
City of Threads
Grim Batol
The Necrotic Wake
Mists of Tirna Scithe
Siege of Boralus

Heroic Difficulty:

  • Tuning and rewards increased to match a baseline Mythic (Mythic 0) dungeon.
  • New mechanics and adjustments from Mythic dungeons are not present.
  • Queueable experience with a roster of seasonal dungeons introduced in Season 1.

Mythic Difficulty:

  • Tuning and rewards equivalent to a +10 dungeon with affixes in the previous system.
  • No timers, affixes, or limitations on changing specializations or talents.
  • A mega-dungeon like difficulty offering a meaningful challenge and commensurate rewards without the pressure of the Mythic+ system.
  • Unavailable until Season 1 of The War Within begins.
  • Daily lockout, changed from weekly in the previous system.

Mythic+:

  • Rewards up to level 10, with adjustments to position of affixes and updated affix buckets.
  • Better alignment of reward and difficulty increases by updating the introduction points of affixes in Season 1.
  • Smaller range of Keystone levels to find groups for and more meaningful progression between each level.

Affixes:

The affix system has been restructured with the following objectives in mind:

  • Shift challenge to the dungeon by simplifying affix design and emphasizing creature abilities.
  • Reduce visual noise, nameplate clutter, and cognitive load during trash combat.
  • Allow for varied and context-specific gameplay decisions based on the dungeon applied to.

New Affixes:

  • Reckless:
    Non-boss enemies without mana ignore 20% armor with their attacks, but their armor is reduced by 30% and they take 10% increased Arcane damage.
  • Thorned:
    Non-boss enemies without mana inflict Physical damage to their attackers when attacked, but take 10% increased Holy and Shadow damage.
  • Attuned:
    Non-boss enemies with mana inflict 20% increased magic damage, but take 10% increased Nature damage and 30% increased damage from Bleed effects.
  • Focused:
    Non-boss enemies with mana have 30% increased Haste, but take 10% increased Frost and Fire damage.

Retired Affixes:

  • Afflicted
  • Incorporeal
  • Entangling
  • Storming
  • Volcanic
  • Spiteful affix for Season 1

Tyrannical and Fortified Affixes: Ongoing experimentation to fit these affixes with the updates.
