Exciting times are ahead for World of Warcraft players with the introduction of Classic Timewalking in Patch 11.0.5. This feature invites players to revisit some of their favorite dungeons from the past, now revamped with fresh rewards and challenges. Here’s a comprehensive overview of what you need to know about this new event.
Classic Dungeons Make a Comeback
As part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations, Classic Timewalking is set to launch around October 22nd. The event will debut during the anniversary festivities and later become a permanent addition to the Timewalking rotation. Players will get the chance to experience revamped versions of iconic dungeons such as the original Deadmines, complete with characters like Mr. Smite and VanCleef.
In addition to Deadmines, players can delve into the Cataclysm versions of dungeons like Stratholme and Zarak'Doom. While some may miss the original bosses, the updated versions promise to offer engaging gameplay and nostalgic loot.
Scaling and Accessibility
One of the significant updates in Patch 11.0.5 is the scaling of Timewalking dungeons. Now accessible from level 10 to 80, these dungeons adjust to the player’s level rather than requiring players to scale down. This change makes the event more inclusive, allowing a broader range of players to participate.
Rewards: Loot and More
Participating in Classic Timewalking offers players a chance to earn unique loot. While the current item level of rewards may not be groundbreaking for high-level characters, the opportunity to collect transmog items with a classic appearance is a significant draw.
Players will also earn Timewalking badges, which can be exchanged for various rewards, including a new mount—the Reins of the Frey Feather Hippogriff—and two new pets. Additionally, classic reputation tokens are available, providing a substantial reputation boost with factions that are otherwise challenging to level up.
Special Features and Future Rotations
The event will feature a weekly quest that rewards loot from the latest raid, enhancing the incentive to participate. Although Blackrock Depths will be the raid focus during the anniversary, it remains separate from the Timewalking rotation.
The Timewalking vendor also includes rare vanilla WoW items and appearances, adding value to collectors and those seeking to complete their transmog sets. Reputation tokens for factions such as the Zandalari Tribe and the Ravasaur Trainers offer players a chance to achieve exalted status with once-removed factions.
Looking Ahead
Classic Timewalking promises to be a permanent feature, with regular rotations ensuring that players can revisit these beloved dungeons. While some may wish for the return of original versions of Scold and Scarlet Monastery, the current lineup provides plenty of opportunities for adventure and nostalgia.
As World of Warcraft continues to expand and evolve, Classic Timewalking serves as a bridge between the game's storied past and its dynamic present, offering new and veteran players alike a chance to experience the rich history of Azeroth.
