In patch 10.1, there are some updates regarding professions in a way that you will be able to upgrade gear that you have crafted before 10.1 into higher ilvls.
The difference is that new items are needed to upgrade the gear further, but you can use the exact same item that you have crafted earlier. It's called recrafting. So, if you want someone else to upgrade the gear for you, then you go to the working order auction house and select recrafting. Add the item that you want to upgrade and then select the new optional reagents needed for upgrading the gear and if there are any more tweaks you want to do.
