Lady Liadrin and Salandria
As the head of the Blood Knights, Lady Liadrin and her blood elf followers have a unique connection to the Light, distinct from that of their human counterparts, largely due to the influence of the Sunwell. In this exchange, Liadrin and her adopted daughter Salandria explore their distinctive form of Light worship with a Lamplighter named Regald Hornfire.Lady Liadrin: Thank you for taking the time to meet with us. I’m eager to understand more about the Sacred Flame.
Regald Hornfire: It’s my pleasure, my lady. I’m always glad to discuss the Sacred Flame.
Lady Liadrin: Is the Sacred Flame something you achieve through Beledar?
Regald Hornfire: Beledar serves more as a symbol—a sacred relic, if you will. It’s a powerful conduit of the Light, but it’s not the origin of the Sacred Flame.
Salandria: So, does the Flame derive from another source, or is it inherent?
Regald Hornfire: Apologies, I’m attempting to distill years of teachings into this one conversation.
Regald Hornfire: The Sacred Flame emerges from within, much like the Light itself. However, it also has external sources, similar to the Light, but is more... tangible due to its flammable nature.
Lady Liadrin: Fascinating. So, do you draw upon the Elemental Plane?
Regald Hornfire: It’s largely a matter of faith. The Sacred Flame isn’t derived from a being in the Firelands or any specific realm; it represents belief itself.
Regald Hornfire: It’s not merely holy or arcane, but encompasses both, and neither. It originates from us and exists as a luminous force throughout the universe.
Salandria: It sounds reminiscent of our own interpretations of the Light, especially compared to Stormwind.
Lady Liadrin: Indeed, and that aligns with its origins.
Lady Liadrin: Thank you, Regald. It has been enlightening. I hope to return soon.Although they didn’t mention it directly, the connection to the Sacred Flame is reminiscent of the Sunwell—an amalgamation of holy and arcane energy reignited during The Burning Crusade by the heart of a dying naaru. Like the Sacred Flame, the Sunwell holds both physical and spiritual significance for the Blood Knights, and as Midnight approaches, this distinctive form of Light worship is expected to play a pivotal role in our return to Quel'thalas.
Sunwalker Dezco and High Prelate Rata
As notable paladins of the Horde, Dezco and Rata’s relationship with the Light differs from that of their Eastern Kingdoms allies. Their worship is tied more to tangible entities like the sun god An'she or the loa Rezan. The two express curiosity about the holy crystal Beledar but find themselves engaging in a speculative conversation regarding the prophecies connected to it.Sunwalker Dezco: This crystal... Beledar. It’s larger than I anticipated.
Great Kyron: The warmth of Beledar protects us all and helps this canyon thrive.
Sunwalker Dezco: Great Kyron, it’s an honor to meet you.
Great Kyron: The honor is all mine. Without your people’s aid, we wouldn’t have survived the Harbingers’ assault.
High Prelate Rata: You had a prophecy about this, didn’t you? Renilash, if I recall?
Great Kyron: Indeed, the great battle between the Arathi and the darkness.
Great Kyron: I can’t help but ponder if this was Renilash; where do we go from here?
Great Kyron: If it wasn’t Renilash... what else might be coming our way?
Sunwalker Dezco: With Xal'atath on the loose, I doubt we’ll have to wait too long for answers.
High Prelate Rata: Dezco, we should proceed onward. Great Kyron, I look forward to our next conversation.
Great Kyron: As do I. Blessings of the Flame upon you. While Dezco and Rata may not delve deeply into their faiths, they seize the opportunity to discuss the impending battle of Renilash that the Arathi believe is rapidly approaching. As Dezco notes, we will likely discern the truth soon, especially with the threat of a Void invasion on the horizon in Midnight. Fortunately, it appears our paladin allies are beginning to forge connections with the Arathi, suggesting they may play a significant role in the upcoming clash between Light and Void.
Captain Fareeya and the Orphans
In a lighter moment, the seasoned veteran Fareeya visits Mereldar after assisting Turalyon during the nerubian attack on Hallowfall. While on patrol, a group of orphans marvel at her Lightforged appearance, leading the typically serious Crescent Glaive to engage in a touching dialogue with the children.Chay: Excuse me, miss. Why do you shine?
Captain Fareeya: I was forged in the Light, little one, to combat the Burning Legion.
Chay: Oh wow! It’s probably good you weren’t forged in the Sacred Flame. Being on fire might hurt!
Captain Fareeya: Hah, I can imagine it would be quite painful. I’m content with just the Light—no flames needed.
Chay: But you could burn your enemies! Phaawww! Foooosh!
Captain Fareeya: I’ve vanquished plenty of foes without that. I have no doubt I’ll defeat many more.
Chay: Oh wow, could you show me?
Captain Fareeya: Perhaps when you’re older, yes?
Chay: Thanks, Glowy Lady!
Captain Fareeya: It’s Fareeya, little one. Look for me when you’ve grown up.
