Guide to Small Garrison Buildings

The small buildings are basically profession buildings. If you have the same profession as the the building you will be able to do better things and get bonuses. If you don’t have the profession of your building you will still do really cool stuff so no worries.
Where to start

Questing in your faction's starting zone will let you unlock a scroll that upgrades your profession to Draenor Master and a plan for the relevant Level 1 Garrison Building.

Alchemy Lab

The Alchemy lab creates a variety of reagents and alchemical wonders.
Level 1
Allows the production of Alchemy items and work orders. 7 total work orders.

Generates a batch of Alchemy reagents daily, and allows production of Alchemical items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Alchemy trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (stack of potions every day). 14 total work orders.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of Alchemy reagents.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 total work orders.

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

Work Orders yield   Alchemical Catalyst 

Enchanter's Study

The enchanter´s Study creates both the magical precursors that form an enchantment, as well as completed and usable item enchantments.
Level 1
Allows the production of Enchanting items and allows non-Enchanters to disenchant items. 7 Work Order.

Generates a batch of Enchanting components daily, and allows production of Enchantments. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Enchanting trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (ability to transmog weapon glow). 14 Work Orders.

Now stores up to two daily batches worth of Enchanting components.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

Work Orders yield  Fractured Temporal Crystal.

Engineering Works

The Engineering Works, produces a host of useful gizmos and parts for the intrepid tinkerer, and also creates wondrous mechanical devices.

Level 1
Allows the production of Engineering items.

Generates a batch of Engineering parts daily, and allows production of mechanical items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Engineering trait to work here, granting a unique bonus. Also allows up to 3 work orders at one time.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of Engineering parts.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

Work Orders yield  Gearspring Parts.

Tailoring Emporium

The Tailoring Emporium is your one stop shop for anything crafted with cloth.
Level 1
Allows the production of Tailoring items and work orders. 7 Work Orders

Generates a batch of Tailoring components daily, and allows production of tailored items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Tailoring trait to work here, granting a unique bonus. 14 Work Orders.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of tailoring components.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

Each Work Order yields 1  Hexweave Cloth.

Scribe's Quarters

The Scribes Quarter produces all manners of magical inks, pigments and paper, and can also create glyphs and other magical items.
Level 1
Allows the production of Inscription items. 7 Work Orders.

Generates a batch of Inscription reagents daily, and allows production of Glyphs and other inscribed items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Inscription trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (create forged goods to get gold from vendors). 14 Work Orders.

Now stores up to two daily batches worth of Inscription reagents

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

This can only be placed on a small lot.

A Work Order yields  War Paints.

Gem Boutique

The Gem Boutique allows for the creation of wondrous gems and other jewelcrafted items.

Level 1
Allows the production of Jewelcrafting items and work orders. 7 Work Orders.

Generates a batch of Jewelcrafting components daily, and allows production of Jewelry. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Jewelcrafting trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (receive a quest to craft an item for lots of gold). 14 Work Orders.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of Jewelcrafting components.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders.

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

A Work Order yields  Taladite Crystal.

The Forge

The Forge produces both basic components for use by blacksmiths, as well as armor and weapons ready for battle.

Level 1
Allows the production of Blacksmithing items and work orders. 7 Work Orders.

Generates a batch of Blacksmithing components daily, and allows production of forged items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Blacksmithing trait to work here, granting a unique bonus. 14 Work Orders.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of Blacksmithing components.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders.

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

A work order yields  Truesteel Ingot.

The Tannery

The Tannery refines raw leather into strong, leatherworked items that are useful for adventurers of any kind.

Level 1
Allows the production of Leatherworking items and work orders.

Generates a batch of Leatherworking components daily, and allows production of leatherworked items. The building can store at most one batch at a time, and new batches are only produced if free storage space is available.

Level 2
Allows followers with the Leatherworking trait to work here, granting a unique bonus (follower can craft decorative tents that provide a rest bonus). 14 Work Orders.

Stores up to two daily batches worth of Leatherworking components.

Level 3
(Requires “Working more Orders” and Level 100)
20 Work Orders.

Unlocks Specializations, and ingredient capacity increases to a maximum of four daily batches.

This can only be placed on a small lot.

Each Work Order yields a  Burnished Leather.

Salvage Yard

Gravity increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover player items in Salvage.

Level 1
Allows Salvage to be occasionally recovered from missions.
Transmutes Salvage into Material, and enables new Salvage missions.

Level 2
Increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover follower items in Salvage.
Enables transmutation of Material to Gold.

Level 3
(Requires “Salvaging Pays Off” and level 100.)
Greatly increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover player items in Salvage.
Unlocks Specializations.

Comment: This building is so important for leveling followers that you should have the level 1 version up as soon as you start sending followers on missions, to qualify for a level 3 version as soon as possible. Otherwise gear seems likely to be a major bottleneck.

If you want to maximize the followers’ game you should put up the level 1 version as soon as it is available.

Storehouse

The Storehouse has room to keep your and the garrison´s items safe and secure.
Level 1
Enables new Logistics missions, and increases the storage of daily batches or shipments on every other Garrison building by 1.

Level 2
Enables access to your personal bank, and increases the storage of daily batches or shipments on every other Garrison building by 2.

Level 3
Requires “Got My Mind On My Draenor Money” and level 100.
Unlocks Specializations, and increases the storage of daily batches or shipments on every other Garrison building by 3.

Comment: This building seems to be very powerful. It increased work orders 15 for all buildings, as nearly all of the buildings can do only up to 21 work orders at one time, this basically almost double the production capacity of all buildings in your garrison. Not to mention the access to bank. This combined with Trading Post (which grants Auction access) will make your garrison into mini-city
